Tamale Technical University (TaTU) is one of Ghana’s leading tertiary institutions, dedicated to advancing technical, vocational, and applied sciences education. Located in Tamale, the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana, TaTU plays a pivotal role in providing hands-on, industry-relevant education that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. Tamale Technical University, Ghana began as a Trades Training Centre (TTC) in 1951 and transitioned to a Government Training School in 1954. In 1960, it was converted to a Junior Technical Institute and on August 23, 1992 it was elevated to a Polytechnic following the promulgation of PNDC Law 321 arising from the Educational Reform Programme initiative. 

With the passing of the Technical University Act (Act 922) and the Amendment Act (Act 974), the institution was further elevated to its current status as a Technical University (TU) in the year 2018. TaTU offers a wide range of programs in engineering, applied sciences, business, ICT, and creative arts, designed to meet the needs of a rapidly changing global economy.
