About

Dr. Suresh Vishwakarma is a seasoned energy-sector professional with more than 37 years of international experience across three continents. He holds degrees in engineering and business administration, as well as a PhD in power management. He has also completed postdoctoral research through a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Planning and Development of Trinidad and Tobago and the University of the West Indies.

Since 1988, Suresh has served in engineering and managerial roles within public utility organizations in Canada, Seychelles, and India. He is currently a Senior Electrical Engineer with a renewable power generation company in British Columbia, Canada. Previously, he worked for more than two years as a Senior Engineer at BC Hydro, the largest public electric utility in Western Canada, and spent a decade with engineering service providers supporting BC Hydro projects.

Suresh has held several academic appointments. He serves as an Honorary Professor at Amity University (India), was an Adjunct Professor in Utilities Engineering at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, and is a part-time faculty member at the School of Innovative Technologies & Engineering at the University of Technology, Republic of Mauritius. He also contributes as an External Evaluator to the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of British Columbia and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the Engineering Council (UK). He is active in the professional community as an International Professional Registration Adviser and Professional Review Interviewer for the Engineering Council (UK). His achievements include the IET’s International Travel Awards in 2020 and 2024, as well as the IET National Travel Award in 2023 for a conference presentation.

Suresh has authored more than 50 conference papers, book chapters, and magazine articles, along with 25 Scopus-indexed journal publications covering a range of technical and managerial topics. He has presented at international conferences in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries. He serves as a reviewer for leading academic publishers including Springer, Emerald, and Elsevier. His areas of expertise include renewable energy, asset management, transmission and distribution, energy efficiency, energy conservation, and professional training.
